Editorial print spread + magazine cover illustration for KNACK, Roularta.
KNACK - LE VIF - L'ECHOS and DE TIJD worked together on a research project on the amount of deaths during or shortly after police custody in Belgium, from 2010 till 2026. The number is 120.
Use of colors:
I used a hard blue for the police identity, and a deep hard red as sort of blood/murder metaphor. We liked the contrast , and this really pops in printed magazine cover.

In part 2 in the next Knack issue we reconstructed a testimony of the sad case of Jeroen.
He was dealing with psychosis, and police were not trained to handle with this. Both parties panicked, and the outcome was unfortunately fatal.
Some refused concepts below, that show a bit my thought proces.
