KNACK - LE VIF - L'ECHOS and DE TIJD worked together on a research project on the amount of deaths during or shortly after police custody in Belgium, from 2010 till 2026. The number is 120.

In part 2 in the next Knack issue we reconstructed a testimony of the sad case of Jeroen.
e was dealing with psychosis, and police were not trained to handle with this. Both parties panicked, and the outcome was unfortunately fatal.
